EP 13: Rev. Dr. Saleem Shalash: Replacement Theology
Pastor Saleem Shalash is the senior pastor and founder of Home of Jesus the King Church, located in Nazareth, the hometown of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Saleem is a born-and-bred Nazarene, and grew up in the town of Nazareth in a Catholic family. He attended Catholic church for many years, until as a teenager he decided to leave the church and to live a normal life like any other teenager in Nazareth.
After Pastor Saleem graduated from high school, he went on to study tourism at the Hebrew University and successfully received his qualification to function as a travel agent in Israel. Pastor Saleem also served in the Nazareth police force for more than 4 years as a volunteer.
On the 6th of August 1994 Pastor Saleem’s life took a dramatic turn. One of his oldest and dearest friends, who was a believer, was involved in a devastating car accident which she did not survive. Shortly after this event Pastor Saleem started seriously contemplating life and the meaning thereof. The Lord spoke to him one day, saying: “Saleem, someone died so that you might have a brand-new life through rebirth. This message was directly from the Lord for me, and he couldn’t do anything else except throw himself at the Lord’s feet. He prayed and asked Jesus to become his Lord and Savior right there and then.
After this the Lord lead him to a Baptist church in Nazareth where he found his family in Christ. A hunger for the Word of God had been developing within him, and so he started his journey into the Word of God. The Pastor of that church also gave him his very first Bible to which he was so overcome that he broke down in tears.
Shortly thereafter the Lord led Pastor Saleem to start his studies at the Bethlehem Bible College, where he successfully graduated and received his B.A. degree, upon which he continued to serve the Lord at another Baptist church in Nazareth. He served there as a minister for 3 years while continuing his studies in theology at the ICB college in Netanya, where he received his M.A. degree in ministry later on.
At the time of his studies at the ICB (Israeli College of the Bible) there were 12 Arab pastors and 12 Jewish pastors studying together, day after day, in the same auditorium. These assembled Pastors felt that they were seeing the manifestation of what God had spoken about the last days in the book of Revelation, that “Arab and Jews will love God together,” as well as in Deuteronomy 32:43 that reads “Rejoice, you nations, with his people.” They truly felt that they were living a historical days, performing the will of God in Israel.
Pastor Saleem continued his studies online and through correspondence, and during May 2018 he received his doctorate degree in theology from the international bible college in Los Angeles. Pastor Saleem has been serving as the Senior Pastor at Home of Jesus the King Church for the past seven years. He is married to a wonderful woman called Nisreen, and they have two beautiful children, a son Suleiman and a daughter Nardeen. They live together in Nazareth and are walking in faith and obedience to God as a family established in Jesus Christ

EP 12: Margalit Friedman: Beauty For Ashes
Margalit was raised in Minnesota and Ohio. She earned her BA in Middle Eastern Studies, splitting her education between the States and Jerusalem. In 1978, she met and married the man of her dreams – David Friedman – a nice Jewish boy from Duluth, MN. They both had the same dream of moving to Israel to live and share the truth about the true Messiah of Israel. They immigrated in 1980. In 1982, their twin boys Shuki and Beni were born.
They founded two local congregations in Jerusalem where Margalit sang in the New Israeli Opera, also working in a Minneapolis based Children’s Theatre, performing productions like The Chronicles of Narnia and Godspell. Much of their ministry was focused on reconciliation between Jewish People with Arabs, Germans, and Polish people groups.
While David was both a professor and the Academic Dean of Israel College of the Bible, they made it a practice to invite students from abroad to spend Shabbats in their home each weekend. They traveled the world teaching the Jewish background of the Scriptures and the importance of carrying the heart of the Father for the Jewish people. They founded a Torah/Bible school in Jerusalem in addition to another congregation that moved online during the Covid pandemic. To this day, people from the nations continue to join every Shabbat morning.
In 2021, her husband, Dr. Rabbi David Friedman, went home to be with the Lord on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Years Day and Biblical Feast of Trumpets. Today Margalit serves as part of the leadership team of the Darchei Noam congregation and regularly leads a group of widows. She continues to meet with Jewish and Arab leaders from the Jerusalem area on a regular basis to encourage and pray for one another.
Margalit is a proud grandmother of seven.

EP 11: Marty Goetz: The Feast of Dedication
Emmy-nominated, Marty Goetz has been called a ‘Modern-Day Psalmist.’ His songs are scriptures beautifully set to music, leaving listeners spiritually moved, inspired and edified. He has partnered in ministry with many others, including the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Greg Laurie’s Harvest Christian Fellowship, Jewish Voice Ministries International, and numerous Christian and Messianic organizations throughout the world.
Marty became a 'Jew born anew' when, provoked by the increasing number of 'born agains' in his life, he began reading the Bible, “looking for loopholes." A few short weeks later, sitting alone one night on a friend's balcony, he realized with certainty that “the Jesus of the New Testament was the Messiah my Jewish people have been longing for.”
Marty has been recording music steadily since 1985, and today lives outside of Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife Jennifer, who also is a Jewish believer in Jesus. Their daughter, Misha, is herself a worship leader and recording artist, and lives outside of Washington, D.C. with her husband Joshua and their children Caleb, Samuel, and Lillian.
In March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, Marty and Jenny began a live stream broadcast from their home every Tuesday and Friday at 7 PM (Central Time). The broadcast can be found on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. Their online gathering called ‘House of Worship’ is a time of worship, prayer, and fellowship that continues to this day.

EP 10: Michael Card: God With Us
In a career that took off with his debut album, First Light (1981), Michael Card has recorded over 38 albums, authored over 28 books, was host to a weekly podcast, and has written for a wide range of magazines. He has penned such favorites as “El Shaddai”, “Love Crucified Arose”, and “Immanuel,”. The popularity of his work seemed a stark contrast to his goal in life, to simply and quietly teach the Bible.
Although music provided him the opportunity to share insight gained through extensive research, writing songs alone limited what he felt called to share. Card would frequently agonize over having to condense the vast depth and richness of scripture into a three-minute song. He then began to write articles and books on topics that captured his imagination through conversations with Bible teachers, friends and contemporaries in both Christian music and the academic community, and continues to write to this day.
Michael lives in Franklin, Tennessee, where, with a group of close friends, he pursues racial reconciliation and neighborhood renewal, and is currently writing on the details of the life of Jesus. He and his wife, Susan, have four children and five grandchildren.
